Young people work together - October work day a success

October work day

Saturday 13th October saw a group of young people from Community of Christ the King travel down from Belfast to work along side local people in the house and grounds of Darkley House.

It was a fine sunny day and so much was achieved - from separating out the natural stone from the pile of demolition rubble at the old Coach House, to tidying and washing down two newly reconstituted bedrooms - a new one on the ground floor and the one above the annex.

One group cleaned the outside of the Care Wagon, the temporary home for Worn Again, whilst the Coach House is being redeveloped.

In terms of volunteering, the 18 or so people x 8 hours at £5.60 per hour equalled a total input of £806. This highlights the massive contribution that volunteering can make to a community group or charity such as ourselves.

We would always welcome any groups or individuals coming to Darkley to volunteer.
